i'm bloggin' it

decided to blog things down

trying to follow a biblegateway reading plan, starting symbolically on my 1st day of adulthood, as an attempt to get more serious with God. didn't want to make a fuss about it, but i was forgetting things that i learnt from the passages and since this is the way i'm most comfortable with, i'll post my thoughts here. and it's a way of keeping myself accountable too.

its now day 7: Gen 19-21 but i'm catching upon Gen 16-18 day 6's reading first. (was too drained after going to the hospital yesterday, had wanted to read, but fell asleep before i could do anything about it).

- Angel to Haggar: Is this the first instance of an angel of God as a messenger?
- Parallel/anti-type: Ishmael and Isaac, John the Baptist and Jesus. Births fortold my angels, parents who laughed it off, and circumcision. Passage referred to: Luke 1.
- Circumcision as covenant: what a strange thing to ask for.
- Abraham running around and serving the 3 guests even in old age.
- Don't laugh hor. Luke 1:37 "For nothing is impossible with God."
- how do we talk to God?
- Abrahamic covenant: why does God say it so many times? what are the different emphasis each time?
1) Gen 12:1-3 The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."
2) Gen 12:7 The LORD appeared to Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to the LORD, who had appeared to him.
3) Gen 13:14-17 The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you."
4) Gen 15 (main covenant). Abram raises "but i'm childless!"
5) Gen 17 (name change covenant at age 99). Issac is promised.
